“Today I see beauty everywhere I go, in every face I see, in every single soul.” –Kevyn Aucoin
Bringing out the best features in someone is something that every stylist strives to do. Yes, beauty is only skin deep but sometimes we just want a those little added details, like those signature vintage curls you know you’ve been dying to try but can’t accomplish yourself, or those perfect red lips that you just can’t see to get right.

Not all stylists, (make-up, hair, and everything in between), are equal, and Kathy Evens Beauty Studio proves it.

We have had the privilege to work with Kathy on multiple shoots were she has brought our imagine, thanks to her and her teams incredible talent, to life. Without a doubt, she is our go to, for both makeup and hair. Her work even showed up on our most recent ad in Seattle Bride Magazine.  Her incredibly skilled, professional team create looks that stun in person and shine on camera, making sure the picture Will do you justice.

A heavy hitter in the wedding industry, her salon is on Central Way in downtown Kirkland. Accompanied by 5 stylists, Kathy and her team can do everything from hair and makeup to brow waxes and are sure to make any gal look stunning. Did we mention these lovely stylists are willing to work in studio or on location? Talk about about a great connivence!

We got to catch up with Kathy and learn just a little bit more about her business, some favorites, and what started it all.

How long have you been in business?
I have been doing bridal makeup since 1997 . I worked at several Eastside salons  before opening my own studio in August of 2010.

What made you want to be a makeup artist?
I was always fascinated by makeup even as a little girl. Makeup is magical you can take something ordinary and transform it into extraordinary!

What is the favorite part of your job?
I love that everyday is different . Each client has different needs . I might be working with a bride or getting a client ready for a special event ,or doing a photoshoot on location. My job is an adventure !

What is the most important piece of advice you can give a bride Looking for the perfect bridal makeup?
Be realistic with your expectations. Consider the time of day and where you will be photographed indoor / outdoors. Lighting effects  everything!
Book your makeup 6 months in advance! This gives you time to schedule your trial session, and any additional beauty sessions you may need to achieve the look you want. Hair cut / color , spray tan , etc….

What sets you apart from other artists?
I have done over 1000 weddings. I do a thorough consultation to get a visual of the look my bride would like created. I am calm and confident, and I know this helps reassure the Bride that she is in good hands, and I am comfortable doing makeup on all ages and skin tones.

Do you have a signature look you like to do for brides?
My signature look is “classic elegance ” This look creates beautiful timeless photos and will always be in style .

Favorite memory of a wedding or bride?
I had the opportunity last year to do the makeup for one of my long time clients. Jane started coming to me for brow waxes back in high school . She went off to collage and met the love of her life while studying photography . They married last September. It was so wonderful to be part of her special

Sidenote: Jane is now a photographer we love to recommend to brides! Check her out here.
