Dillingham Ranch, or as it’s affectionately known, the “Big House,” has an effortless elegance and old-world charm (peacocks included!) that served as the perfect backdrop to Marissa & Sean’s to-die-for Hawaii affair.
Both sophisticated and alluringly romantic, a classy sheath is the perfect compliment to an exclusive & historic estate like Dillingham Ranch, and Marissa took her look to a whole new level by incorporating small details from her dress into the design of the rest of her wedding. After all, tying together all the little details is what separates a simply “pretty” wedding from iconic one. Detailing on the cake mimicked the ruching on the bodice of her “Aspen” by Jenny Packham frock right down to the diamond-shaped cluster of pearl & crystal in the center, and she even had her gorgeous rose & white poppy bouquet adorned with lace and buttons to match her delicate cap-sleeves and lace back. Totally nailed it.
The key to sheaths is all in how you wear it, and not everyone can pull this classic look off with such panache. It has to be you, and it has to fit the vision of the wedding. Marissa wore it perfectly, with the kind of natural, beautiful confidence you can read all over her smiling face and in the graceful way she carries herself.
We also just adored how Marissa didn’t make her maids too matchy-matchy, opting instead to doll them up in floaty chiffon just a subtle few shades from her ivory gown and with inverted V pleating echoing the V pleating on her own dress. Sometimes going shorter can dress down a look, but formal touches like skinny gold belts and higher necklines made all the difference for Marissa’s maids, who looked like a dream walking through the plantation.
The wedding-day decor incorporated the vintage & lace theme to absolute perfection, and our fave decor touch was the old typewriter and (swoon!) books inscribed with the first page of their own personal love story. We just love their outlook on their big day because it’s oh so important to remember that a fairy-tale wedding is not a happy ending; it’s just the beginning of a life-long love story and the start of the two lovebirds’ happily ever after.
